In 2001 Qantas engaged Marc to design a Business Class seat that would recline to form a fully flat bed. Marc and his team worked closely with Qantas to understand the needs of its Business Class customers. Privacy, comfort, and flexibility were all identified as key drivers in customers’ choice. Marc was given the challenge of addressing these needs as well as looking at smart ways to give customers a feeling of space, all within a highly regulated aircraft environment.

So was born the Skybed, a fully flat bed that features an enveloping cocoon with its own internal lighting system which Marc designed to create passenger privacy and personal security.
