Memovox Travel Clock
View textWorking with Jaeger-LeCoultre has been one of the great privileges of my career. My admiration for the Maison began in my youth, inspired by its enduring design language and uncompromising commitment to innovation. Over the years, that admiration has evolved into a rewarding creative partnership, from reinterpreting the iconic Atmos clock to collaborating on unique pieces for the 2013 (RED) auction with Jony Ive.
The Memovox has always held a particular fascination for me. Its ingenious mechanical alarm and the poetic meaning of its name "voice of memory" beautifully unite engineering with emotion. Creating a new travel clock around this heritage offered the opportunity not simply to reinterpret an existing object, but to invent something entirely new.
Developed over five years, the project demanded a completely original calibre and a new way of interacting with the movement. Replacing the traditional crown with a single rotating annular ring required close collaboration with Jaeger-LeCoultre's master watchmakers, resulting in an elegant mechanism that combines winding, time setting and alarm adjustment within one intuitive gesture.
The travel clock reimagines a historic object for the present day. In an age of digital timekeeping, it celebrates the enduring value of mechanical craft and the emotional connection we form with objects that accompany us through life. More than a way of telling time, it serves as a reminder of home, ritual and the journeys that shape us.
Every detail reflects a shared commitment to craftsmanship, from the movement itself to the leather case created with Schedoni. Together they express a belief in longevity, tactile beauty and thoughtful design.
For me, timepieces remain the perfect expression of engineering and design working as one. They honour tradition while embracing innovation, creating objects that measure more than time, they capture memory, purpose and the enduring value of craftsmanship.
