The CL Curio 7x21 is a lightweight, pocket-sized binocular for leading optics manufacturer Swarovski Optik. Taking inspiration from the precision and expertise available to him at Swarovski Optik’s factory, Marc created an aesthetically discreet binocular, though as he remarks “like all things that appear to be simple, the binoculars are incredibly complex to engineer”, especially due to the compact scale. The bridge and hinge appear seamless: when the hinge is deployed, no internal mechanism is exposed. Produced in black and orange, the CL Curio 7x21 weighs only 250 grams and has a field view of 135 metres.

“Optics are an inherently analogue and natural phenomenon that really dissociate from the digital world in which we live. This is pure analogue engineering- with some very digital tools used in the process. The final result is a wonderful, mechanically perfect series of elements. It’s almost alchemy in a way.”
