Pégase Luggage
View textThe third instalment of the luggage collaboration between Marc Newson and Louis Vuitton, Pégase is the evolution of a historic model in the maison’s offering: a cabin-sized suitcase with a front compartment for documents or a laptop. The model has been updated in line with the new materials and techniques that were developed for Horizon and Horizon Soft, resulting in three collections which have a consistent vocabulary and share innovations.
In order to maximise internal packing space and keep the external profile compact, Marc developed the thinnest trolley system on the market, with canes that are housed on the exterior of the luggage and integrated into the shell upholstery. Each component of the bag was developed from the ground up- resulting in an entirely custom-made bag- a rarity in the industry, but something all of Marc’s luggage designs for Vuitton share. The two-wheel bag has a 90:10 opening and a supple front panel, available in the brand’s classic canvas and leather offerings.
“There is an enormous amount of technology that people simply don’t see: all the handwork- which is standard for Vuitton- but also all of the tooling, which we’ve developed especially for the product: concerning the cane, handle and back of the case. These are really Formula One pieces.”
