The IO Table is characterised by a tensioned cord that holds all the components together. Marc wanted to make a table that could be flat-packed. The challenge was to dismount the legs and pack them flat in the same container, all while doing something interesting with the assembly.

“The idea is that it’s a collapsible table which arrives in a box in pieces. I didn’t want to use screws or glue, the segments are held in place by elastic cable, just like an elastic band. I was thinking about the incredibly strong urethane leg rope that surfboards use.”
