Invited by Dupont, the manufacturer of Corian, to design a piece for the Milan furniture fair exhibition demonstrating the kinds of creative possibilities of the material, Marc decided to design a sculptural lamp that was made from thermoformed Corian. This was made possible by a factory in Germany with thermoforming technology capabilities. By heating up the material, it could be placed in a mould; this way, it could also be made thin enough to shine light through. This was a completely novel application of the material.
