The Gluon Chair was conceived as a modular chair and footstool pair, that could be joined together to form longer sofas or benches. The void in the centre acts as an air cushion to make it more comfortable to sit on. The chair was produced in two versions- one with four legs for commercial uses, like airports, and one with a pedestal base for domestic use. The chair has been featured in The Truman Show (1998) and Prometheus (2012). The name Gluon refers to the elementary particle that functions as an exchange particle, which appealed to Marc because of its relation to modularity.
