The Extruded Ribbon Console is made in Azul Macaubus stone for the Gagosian Gallery exhibition in Athens. The console is a continuation of the forms explored in the ‘Lathed’ and ‘Extruded’ works first presented at Marc’s 2007-2008 Gagosian Gallery show. The marble block used for the first edition of the piece featured a spot running through, which Marc chose to feature on the surface of the console rather than attempt to hide in the interior as the distinct dark and light rings of the marking recall the evil eye, a symbol ever-present throughout Greece.
